We set out for a warm winter day in Boston to shoot with Chris and Nolvia, or maybe we hoped. However it was crazy cold and windy. So we ran out and made the best of our great city on a cold February day. I think we made some fun and fantastic images with these guys. Here are a few with some words from Chris and Nolvia about their story. Just a little sneak peek for now.
How did you two meet?
We met through mutual friends - Chris' cousin and Nolvia's co-worker knew that we were both single and thought that we should meet.
Tell us the proposal story~
After picking up the ring, asking for her parent's blessing, and informing my parents that I was going to propose...I began plotting on how to propose to Nolvia. I wanted to catch her off guard and for it to be a surprise. I went back and forth between grand, extravagant proposals and small, intimate ones. On Labor Day morning of 2013, I was racking my brain and remembered our second date was in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum at their Third Thursday event and how in love she was with the courtyard. Right then, I knew that was the place to propose. Both of us had the day off and I made spur of the moment plans with her to spend the afternoon at the Gardner Museum. We leisurely walked around the Museum enjoying the collections and as we were planning to leave, I asked if we could just sit on the steps along the edge of the courtyard just to rest my feet from all the walking (a reason she later admitted to questioning as we were both getting hungry!). As we sat and admired the courtyard, she stated how much she loved it and we quickly reminisced about the last time we visited the museum when we first started dating. It was at that point I decided to go ahead and propose to Nolvia. The plan of surprising her succeeded as she had no idea I was going to propose and, of course, I was ill-prepared and had no tissues for the tears that followed.
What details are you most excited about for your wedding? EX. cake, vendors, location, etc.
We are really excited about the ceremony and getting married in the Church.
As we are currently living in Houston, we are very excited about having the wedding in Massachusetts and seeing all of our friends and family whom we have only seen for limited times since we have moved away.
We are excited for our first dance and all the partying/dancing at the reception!
OF COURSE, we are excited about the photographers! =)
What look were you going for in your engagement session?
We wanted our photos to capture the city we love - Boston. Looking to try and be natural in front of the camera and not to have any of the pictures look "forced". We also wanted to continue to develop a relationship with our photographers - one that was more than just a business relationship!
Do you have any tips or advice for couples getting ready for their session?
Don't worry too much about the actual photos being taken - they happen so quick that you are done before you know it! We would also suggest meeting with them beforehand, maybe for lunch or breakfast, to get some dialogue going and to "break the ice".
How was your overall session experience?
We walked away saying how much of a great time it was, even though it was one of the coldest weekends ever in Boston! We are happy that we met with the photographers beforehand for lunch so that everyone was comfortable with each other. While we were walking around shooting, it was almost like we were just hanging out with friends and touring the city! We def can't wait to see them again to take more photos!
