We were almost worried this engagement session wasn't going to happen.... Of course everyone wants good weather on the day of their shoot, but in this case it was more than just a hopeful wish. Aileen and Mike live in Miami and since Mike is a HUGE Red Sox fan, a session in Fenway Park was a must! Days before their session they received word from the coordinator that because of the predicted thunder and lightening storms, they may have to reschedule!!!! That wasn't going to be easy, as I think they were in the airport about to board to Boston at that moment! All we could do was pray that it all worked out and by some engagement wish miracle it did! It ended up being a beautiful day! We met up with Aileen and Mike at the Bleacher Bar to finally meet in person and get to know them more than the phone calls and texts we had been exchanging, before asking them to get cozy in front of our camera. It was like we had known them our whole life! By the time we walked through the Fenway security gate, we were like a group of old friends! They were such a fun couple to shoot, down for anything and so cute and comfortable with each other! Of course after leaving Fenway Park, we had to make a visit to our stomping grounds, the North End. After boasting about everything great they should do in our neighborhood on their last day here, we finally got to some more shooting. Starting out in Christopher Columbus Park and ending the session in the Greenway. We had such a blast, thank you both for choosing us to document your love in your engagement photos, we hope you love them!
Now on to the good stuff..... Their story in their words.... :)
Mike and I met while he was working at Enterprise. My best friend and I were on our way to Walt Disney World to celebrate her birthday. Enterprise was late to pick her up and she asked that I take her to pick up our rental. As we were walking out to our rental, Mike handed each of us his business card with his personal cellphone number (which was hand written) on it and slipped us the "call me if you have any questions about the car, no matter the time" line. Two hours later (which he claims was actually 30 minutes) I texted him. We have been together ever since.
2015 was the year of proposals in our core group. While I was busy planning the proposals for 2 of my closest girlfriends with their Fiancés, Mike was busy planning ours with them. Mike and I ended up spending Thanksgiving weekend in Steeler Nation (Pittsburgh, PA) with his best friends whom I had never met up until that weekend. On the 27th (Black Friday) we ended up on the Mount Washington Overlook taking in the sight of Pittsburgh. We walked, chatted and stopped for pictures with his friends, when Mike decided to give the other couple some “alone time” little did I know what was about to happen. While gazing over Heinz Field and PNC Park, Mike starts acting not like himself (chattier and extra lovey-dovey), he grabbed my hand turned me towards him, reached into his pocket all while getting down on one knee and asked me to marry him, needless to say my response was “about dam time” and “Yes!”. This special moment was captured on video by his best friend and I am beyond grateful that we are able to relive it when we want to reminisce and we will be able to share it with our kids in the future.
What details are you most excited about for your wedding?
Mike would say the food and alcohol, for me it’s the full experience. Honestly we both cannot wait to begin our Happily Ever After.
Where are you getting married?
A. St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Miami Beach, FL
Where is the reception?
A. The Venue Fort Lauderdale
We had 2 looks for our engagement, I like to refer to it as his ½ and my ½. Mike is a HUGE Red Sox fan and we were blessed to be able to take pictures inside of Fenway Park. For this portion it was clear that fun, relaxed and casual was going to be the best bet, but I kept it girly with wedged chucks ;). For the second half of the shoot, I was going for a more romantic feel. We ended up shooting in the streets of Boston. Being from Miami, we wanted to get away from the cookie cutter feel of all photo sessions that are offered. We are both in love with Boston and wanted to capture the city’s beauty and history in our session.
Do you have any tips or advice for couples getting ready for their session?
A. Honestly, have fun. My mother gave me sound advice before we departed for our trip: “Relax, take a step back, and enjoy this very special time. This is, hopefully, a once in a lifetime experience. Do not stress the little things that our out of your control.”
